BOTOX FAQs

Thinking about anti-wrinkle injections (often known as ‘Botox’) and have questions? You’re not alone. Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions patients ask at EG Aesthetics in Benfleet, Essex.

These FAQs are designed to give you clear, honest information – but they don’t replace a full, personalised consultation with registered nurse Emily Grace.

  • What are anti-wrinkle injections (Botox)?

Anti-wrinkle injections use a purified protein to temporarily relax specific facial muscles. This softens lines and wrinkles caused by repeated expressions such as frowning, squinting or raising your eyebrows. At EG Aesthetics in Benfleet, the aim is always a soft, natural result – you should still look like yourself, just fresher and less tired.

  • What areas can be treated?

The most common areas for anti-wrinkle injections are:

    Frown lines (between the eyebrows)

    Forehead lines

Crow’s feet (lines around the eyes)

In some cases, other advanced areas may be suitable, but this is always discussed and assessed during your consultation.

  • Will I look 'frozen' or overdone?

No – not if it’s done carefully and appropriately. My approach at EG Aesthetics is always “refreshed, not frozen”. By assessing your facial muscles and using precise dosing, we can soften lines while still allowing you to make normal expressions.

  • How soon will I see the results of Botox?

You may start to notice changes from around 3–5 days after treatment, with full results usually visible at around 2 weeks. This is why review appointments are typically offered at the 2-week mark.

  • How long do the results of Botox last?

Most people find their results last around 3–4 months. This can vary from person to person and can be influenced by factors such as metabolism, muscle strength and lifestyle. Over time, with regular treatments, some people notice their lines appear softer even as the treatment wears off.

  • How often will I need a treatment?

If you’d like to maintain your results, most people choose to have treatment every 3–4 months. We can discuss a plan that suits you during your consultation and review appointments.

  • Is Botox Safe?

Anti-wrinkle injections have been used safely in medicine for many years. However, like all medical treatments, they do carry risks and are not suitable for everyone. At EG Aesthetics, all injectable treatments are carried out by registered nurse Emily Grace using medical-grade products, with strict infection control protocols and emergency medications and equipment on site.

  • What are the common side effects of Botox?

Common, temporary side effects can include:

Redness or small bumps at the injection sites

    Mild swelling or bruising

Headache or a “tight” feeling in the treated area

These usually settle within a few hours to a few days. You’ll receive clear written and verbal aftercare instructions, including what to look out for and when to contact the clinic.

  • Who is not suitable for anti-wrinkle injections?

You may not be suitable if you:

    Are pregnant or breastfeeding

    Are under 18

Have certain neuromuscular or medical conditions

Have an active infection or skin condition in the treatment area

Suitability is always confirmed during a full medical consultation before any treatment is carried out.

  • What serious complications should I be aware of?

Serious complications are rare but can include issues such as eyelid drooping or asymmetry. These risks will be discussed in full at your consultation so you can make an informed decision. As a registered nurse, I am trained in recognising and managing complications and have emergency medications and equipment available in the clinic.

  • Does Botox hurt?

The injections are quick and use a very fine needle. Most clients describe the feeling as a slight scratch or sting. Treatments are usually very well tolerated, and we’ll always go at your pace and explain each step as we go.

  • Is there any downtime?

Downtime is usually minimal. You may have some redness, small bumps or mild bruising at the injection sites, which typically settle within a few hours to a few days. Most people feel comfortable returning to work and normal daily activities straight away.

  • What aftercare do I need to follow?

You’ll receive full written and verbal aftercare instructions, but general advice includes:

Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas for 24 hours

Stay upright for 4 hours after treatment

Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and hot tubs for 24 hours

Avoid facials or treatments to the area for a few days

You’ll also be given clear information on how to contact the clinic if you have any concerns.

  • How much does Botox cost at EG Aesthetics?

Pricing can vary depending on the number of areas treated and your individual treatment plan. As a guide:

    1 area – £120

    2 areas – £180

    3 areas – £230

Exact pricing will always be confirmed at your consultation once we’ve agreed the most appropriate plan for you.

  • Do I need a consultation first?

Yes. A full medical consultation is essential before any injectable treatment. This allows us to discuss your concerns, review your medical history, assess your facial anatomy and decide together whether anti-wrinkle injections are right for you.
